  1. The forbidden brain booster 'they' don't want you to know about

    There's a widely available natural substance that's proven to protect the brain from any number of serious diseases, including Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

    So naturally, the powers-that-be are doing everything they can to keep it away from you -- and if you do take it on yourself to get it, you can expect dirty looks and fake coughs.

    Yes, it's the nicotine found in the tobacco leaf, and because it's so politically incorrect to get it the natural way, the drug industry is racing to create synthetic smoke-free versions they can patent and charge top-dollar for (and with no tobacco tax to burn into the profits).

    The latest is called EVP-6124, and in a six-month study it managed to help preserve and even improve cognitive function in dementia patients. Those who took a placebo, on the other hand, actually got worse.

    It's no secret why it works. People with conditions such as dementia often lack the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, causing immune cells to go berserk and attack the brain itself.

    Nicotine, however, can actually replace acetylcholine and restore order in your noggin. It's so effective we should tell our farmers to ditch the soy and get back to growing good old American tobacco -- but you know that has a snowball's chance in hell of happening.

    So the way I see it, you've got two choices here. You can wait for the Big Pharma version, which will probably be less effective and more dangerous than the real thing.

    Or you can light one up today.

    Despite what you've heard, natural tobacco has never been proven to cause cancer, emphysema or any other disease. And along with protecting the brain, tobacco can help PREVENT cancer, ward off heart disease, improve digestion, and more.

  2. 'Mild' cognitive impairment and dementia leave you more likely to die

    How 'senior moments' can kill you

    Mild cognitive impairment is often dismissed as the ordinary brain farts that come with aging, and plenty of docs even dismiss it altogether. You've seen one doddering oldster, you've seen 'em all, right?


    MCI isn't just a fancy way of saying "I forgot." It's often a precursor to dementia and Alzheimer's disease, and even if doesn't progress to the point of disease it still has the power to wreck your life... or even end it.

    In one new study, researchers tracked more than 700 people over the age of 70 for up to 16 years. A quarter of them had developed either MCI or dementia at the start of the study -- and those who had either condition were between two and three times more likely to die than those who were cognitively normal.

    Sounds to me like there's nothing "mild" about mild cognitive impairment after all.

    In another new study, researchers used motion sensors to track seniors in and around their homes and found that those with MCI spent increasingly less time outside and started to withdraw indoors.

    Who wants to live like that??? Sounds downright miserable to me... but on the other hand, it sure beats that death risk spotted in the other study.

    Clearly, you need to keep yourself sharp as a tack -- but your own doc will almost certainly tell you there's nothing you can do once that mental decline starts to kick in.

    He's flat-out wrong.
