This latest study investigated seniors over 60 with pre-diabetes for 12 years. Most of them maintained their pre-diabetic state.

The diet itself is simple to follow, which is one of the reasons it's so successful. All you need to do is eat like your ancestors. 

That means, focus on eating what was available to them -- primarily meat, vegetables, seeds, nuts, healthy oils, and fruit (but only as a treat). This is what your body is used to and was built to use. 

Processed foods should be eliminated completely and any sugar you ingest should only be small amounts from fruit. 

You'll find that by making vegetables a large portion of your meal that you'll naturally eat, and lose weight. 

The other half of the formula is, of course, exercise. For some, this is even harder to stick to than a diet. But you don't need to make it difficult. You just need to be consistent. Getting your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes a day is all you need! 

You don't need to get to the gym to run on a treadmill if that’s not your thing. In fact, you don't need to run at all. Low impact exercises like walking at a brisk pace, biking, and even swimming can help you MELT the pounds off.

One, final “backup” plan
